add and reduce contrast, all sorts of things. You can easily adjust histograms or Curves etc. Where Silverfast and Epson Scan work best are for those times when you just want an image to pop out of the scanner fully formed (or for quick general scanning). So set the White Point to 0% and the Black Point to 0% and everything in between is pure tone ready to be manipulated in Lightroom etc.
In this respect Vuescan just does what you tell it to do, and apart from a few initial settings doesn't really need adjusting from scan to scan. It tries to work too hard at making a good image straight out of the scanner when the best image for post processing B&W is a flat and boring scan.
#Silverfast se plus 8 software
Some software constantly battles against you in getting a scan suitable for importing to Lightroom/Photoshop etc. I hope this gives you a reasonable impression of the reasons. VueScan, IMO, is a superior scanning software that gives good control over the captured file and maximizes the data to work with later in PS or similar. (Not relevant for C1 or Aperture as they are RAW processors). Regarding PS or Lightroom, it is always desirable to work with the best possible file for adjustments. Mostly I don't know which one's until I have viewed them, so ALL have to be potentially be up to that standard. OTOH, some of my images, both digital and analog, get enlarged to extreme dimensions. How much does it matter that your camera sensor is excellent if you are only prepping for internet use? Very little IMO. Steve, I think it is best explained by comparing it to the sensor in your digital camera.
#Silverfast se plus 8 upgrade
In the future I can upgrade if I need to.How much does the software matter if you are going to load the scan into capture one or aperture or photoshop or Lightroom or whatever? Not trying to be controversial here I really want to understand what difference there is.
#Silverfast se plus 8 download
Do I need to download another version now? But please, these questions on quality are very important to me. I'm trying to phone, to find out what I do next to purchase.
You have so many products, I can't keep track of what is what. I'm not into color casts unless they are way off. It would really help me to know this before I purchased. Like you would almost see with a microscope. I am talking about just the slightest difference. Then I zoomed in on the very same part in each scan and compared them side by side, would the Silverfast Ai Studio 8 look just the slightest slightest better than SE Plus 8? And would SE 8 look the least good.
If I had all the versions at my disposal and scanned the very same drawing or picture. The very main question for me is SE 8, SE Plus 8, Silverfast Ai Studio 8.which version would do the very best quality scan. Would a more expensive scanner scan graphite drawings with more quality? The other thing I would like to know is.Which version I would want. I would scan the same thing and zoom way in on the same part. From tests I ran between Silverfast and my Mac software (30 day free trial). Like I said, I am so far from being fast and into all this, but I do know one thing. I will be scanning mostly my graphite drawings and older negatives.
Now I have moved to an iMac (Mountain Lion 10.8.4) About 1-2 years ago I got the free version of 8 on my Mac but I never got the forever key. In the past I have been using an older version of Silverfast on my Gateway PC.
